May was a pretty fun month for us. Ella turned 2 and Jace turned 4! After last year's Cosmo Birthday Party, we decided that birthday parties with friends would have to be every other year. We had fun celebrating with Grandma and Papa O'Bryant.
Jace and Nick went on their first fathers and sons outing. It rained, but they had a lot of fun. On memorial day, we went on a hike. It was a lot of fun. We saw a spotted owl and her baby. Luckily, we were able to figure out the timer on the camera. It was pretty tricky and entertaining, as Nick had to set the camera on a log then jump the log, jump the creek and get in position all in 10 seconds.
Side note, Nick spoke on Mother's day for the 3rd year in a row. Loni, I quoted your blog in my talk. Thanks for the material. I hope you don't mind. It was your post about the good smell protection (which has become a saying in our Ward) and enjoying small moments with your kids, as you do during your kids' bath time. Your story coincided well with Elder Ballard's talk on young mothers that I had to base my talk.

Tomato Smashing
Ella, for the most part, is a very well-behaved child. However, she really enjoys making messes, i.e. dumping oatmeal on the floor, writing with pen on the couches, putting play-doh in the carpet, etc. A few weeks ago, she really came up with a new one. Alyssa walked into the dining room to find the following:Ella had gotten the cherry tomatoes out of the fridge and just started smashing them one by one. Needless to say, we should probably put a lock on the fridge. To see the full effect, double click on the picture of Ella to see the seeds that splattered all over her.

Beach, Soccer, and more hair pictures
We signed Jace up for soccer. Unfortunately, they don't have teams and leagues until they are 5. So Jace goes to a soccer class every Saturday morning. He likes it a lot and it is definitely the highlight of his week.
Alyssa and the kids also made their first trek to the beach. It is a great beach in Ventura County. They went with several moms and kids from our ward. Jace had a great time playing with his friend Brody. Ella loves to dig with her bucket.
The last picture is of Ella's interesting hair. Mom goes to great lengths to do her hair and Ella goes to great lengths to change her hair.
