Half Marathon...

It was a great birthday! Started it off by running my first half marathon. Woo hoo! It was a really fun experience. Three of us finished all about the same time: 2:02. I'm just glad that I kept a pace up and finished! And I couldn't have done it without my inspiring friends that I run with in the early mornings. They are awesome! More importantly, I couldn't have done it without Nick's help with the kids during all my runs lately. Thank you, Nick!

Jace kept asking before the race if I was going to win. Ha ha. I told him I really wasn't considering it to be a RACE. I just wanted to keep running until I got to the finish line! One thing I learned and surprised myself by: running can be fun. Never until now have I enjoyed it!
This is just before the finish line. So glad to be there!
This is Ella with her cute friend, Mandy Miller. They are in the cutest preschool together. I looooove it!
Thanks Suzanne for letting us borrow the M&M costumes! The girls loved them!
Mrs. Farr's preschool class. LOVE IT!
This is one of the pumpkins that Jace carved all by himself. He is quite the carver! I think he carved three of ours on his own.

Nick: steadfast in his annual pumpkin carving tradition.
Quincey tasting real blueberries from one of those mesh baby food taster-things. I don't know what they're called. I knew she'd be a darling mess!
My new FAVORITE family activity involves this sweet little bike trailer. Now Jace, Nick and I can go fast!!!!
At first Quincey wasn't too sure about it while I was buckling her in. But in the end, this is what she looked like:
Jace: Harry Potter. Watch out! He has a real magic wand!

Pictures and new hobbies

Yeah... I guess I'm overdue on a blog update.
So I took these couple of pictures of Quincey yesterday. She is 6 days shy of being 5 months now. Last night we were outside enjoying the cool, fall weather. Nick was making her laugh in the second picture. I just picked up that exersaucer for her this past week. She's just starting to get the stomach muscles to start holding herself up better.

Look at these cheeks!

After playing soccer and tball this year, Jace is now in Junior Jazz. He's having a lot of fun. And while he has made some baskets and assists, this kid seems to be made for defense- in both soccer and bball, actually. He REALLY seems to love playing basketball. There he is- number 15. Rich and RaNae will be excited to hear that Jace saw some of Nick's old VHS high school basketball tapes... which of course Jace was so excited to watch. So we had to hook up the old VCR. Glad we still have one.

The first time Quincey had rice cereal. She seemed to love it and acted like she'd been eating it her whole life. That is, after she got the first shiver over with. lol

Ella going to preschool- I missed the first day. This was the second. She LOVES her preschool and so do I. Her teacher Mrs. Farr has been teaching kindergarten for years and this past year decided instead to teach preschool out of her home. She transformed her garage into an adorable preschool- you can't even tell that it is a garage anymore. And she's soooo cute with the kids.
I should have taken a picture of our garden when it was at its height of production. It was really fun growing vegetables for the first time. Our crookneck squash, carrots, basil, pumpkins, corn, cucumbers, and cilantro did really well. My tomatoes, however are still green! Help! It's going to freeze any day. So I think we will miss those tomatoes. I'll have to plant earlier next year.

Ella is the sweetest big sister ever. She is constantly taking care of Quincey. I don't take her help for granted! She sings her songs, tells her how much she loves her, and whispers her secrets in her ears. So cute! I walked in her room one day after leaving Quincey on her bed for a minute and found Ella "reading" this book to her. She had Quincey captivated.
A fun treat to make: fortune cookies! I found a recipie online. They are so easy to make and so yummy and you can put any message inside of them. The kids love making each other messages and hiding them in these cookies.
Ready for church. I took this picture a little while ago.
I need to take some pictures of my new hobbies. I LOVE to play the piano that Nick gave me. It's been SO MANY years since I've had a piano in my home...well, since I left for BYU actually. So I am really, really enjoying it.
We've also been bike riding. We LOVE this!!!!!! I really need to take a picture of all of us. Quincey rides on the front of mine in a little seat. So far she loves it. And Jace is a SUPER fast rider. Nick and I both can barely keep up with that kid!
I've also been REALLY enjoying running for the past few months. Sounds crazy because I've never loved running. But it's actually really fun. I've been going with a group of friends 4 times a week. We go at 5:45 am. So early! But it's fun. I'm now training to run a half marathon on the morning of my birthday, in 3 weeks. I'm super stoked!
